Global service provider Hawksford has appointed Simon Turner to the role of Head of Africa, as part of the firm’s strategic ambitions to grow its proposition for supporting both inbound and outbound African investment.

Based in Cape Town, Simon will lead on the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy across the African market, establishing an on-the-ground presence for Hawksford in South Africa, while working closely with the firm’s well-established teams in key gateway locations to Africa, including Mauritius and Dubai, as well as colleagues across the wider Group.

Building on Hawksford’s existing track-record of supporting South African structuring, Simon will look to further evolve and enhance Hawksford’s delivery capabilities across the continent and build the firm’s reputation for supporting both inbound and outbound investment flows in the rapidly growing market.

Simon joins Hawksford with close to three decades of experience in building, leading, and transforming businesses across South Africa, the UK, and Europe. With significant expertise in private equity, corporate strategy, investment management, and business restructuring, Simon most recently founded his own strategic advisory firm specialising in complex cross-border business challenges spanning restructuring, M&A, financing, and market expansion. He also holds an MBA in Finance from the Rotterdam School of Finance.

Commenting on Simon’s appointment, Daniel Hainsworth, Head of Corporate at Hawksford, said:

“Hawksford is committed to the African market, where we already have significant experience working with corporate, fund and private clients, supporting high-quality inward and outward investment flows across the region.

“Simon’s appointment is central to our strategic ambitions in the African market. Working with our global teams, and in particular with colleagues in Mauritius and Dubai, Simon adds a critical footprint for us in South Africa and brings hugely valuable expertise and experience to ensure we can continue to enhance our proposition to fully support the evolving needs of clients in what we see as a market with significant potential.”

Simon added: “Supporting Hawksford’s growth in the dynamic and fast-moving African market presents an exciting opportunity and I look forward to working with my new colleagues across our global network to drive business in a region that I know well and am passionate about.”
